Volvo V40 (2012-2016)
Keep under hood temperatures in check and maximize turbo efficiency with an Elevate Turbo Downpipe Heat Shielding Wrap. By wrapping your turbo downpipe with our wrap, heat is captured inside the pipe and sent toward the exhaust tips rather than radiating to surrounding components, causing damage and losing performance. Exhaust thermal energy is maintained to optimize turbo performance and increase exhaust scavenging.
Our wrap is made in the USA from actual pulverized volcanic lava rock (continuous-filament basalt) formed into fabric and woven into a tight mesh weave for ultimate heat containment. This translates to a continuous heat rating of 1800°F / 982°C—well beyond what your downpipe would ever reach. The wrap can be used on either stock or larger diameter aftermarket downpipes. We include five sleeved, stainless steel clamps to secure the wrap next to the flange at the turbo, on both sides of the downpipe flex section, at the end of the downpipe before the catalytic converter, and an extra in case you feel you need to better secure a section. Our wrap does not need to be wet for installation as old, traditional wraps needed to be. We include two pair of nitrile long cuffed gloves to protect your hands as some people may feel “itchy” from contact with some of the fibers (similar to handling fiberglass).
Installation can be performed with the downpipe in the vehicle, but it is much easier to install with the downpipe removed from the vehicle. Wrap material may be cut to length with scissors if needed. Overlap each layer about 50%. The attached pictures show one full roll of wrap as applied to a stock P1 downpipe. One roll should be plenty for most downpipe designs, yet variations in customer application of the wrap can affect yield. Our wrap is non-flammable. It is not designed to be removed and replaced multiple times as the material becomes less pliable after being heat cycled through normal use.
