Our Wastegate Actuator delivers consistent, optimal boost pressure for your vehicle. Precision manufactured of premium materials, it provides better turbo response and greater sensitivity when managing boost pressures. Our Wastegate Actuator has the ability to hold more boost throughout the RPM range, allowing more power to be produced at all engine speeds compared to the factory actuator. This translates to a more responsive engine.
What is a Wastegate Actuator?
A wastegate is a valve integrated in the turbo exhaust housing which controls the flow of exhaust gases from the engine to the turbocharger. By controlling the flow of exhaust gases to the turbine of the turbocharger, the wastegate can control the boost pressure created by the turbo. The wastegate valve is controlled by the wastegate actuator which consists of a spring and a sealed chamber. The sealed chamber of the wastegate actuator is connected by vacuum hose to the Turbo Control Valve (TCV).
What makes the ELEVATE Wastegate Actuator better than the stock unit?
Performance: Your Volvo will build boost earlier in the RPM range due to our Wastegate Actuator being able to hold the wastegate valve shut as boost is building. Testing by Turbosmart on some cars (not a Volvo specific test) has shown benefits of:
- Peak boost of 17psi @ 3100 RPM while the factory actuator held 13psi @ 3500 RPM.
- ELEVATE Wastegate Actuator reached 13psi @ 2800 RPM, 700 RPM earlier than the factory actuator.
- At maximum engine speed, our wastegate actuator produced 11psi while the factory unit produces 8psi.
Design: Starting with a clean sheet, our Wastegate Actuator was designed to achieve the desired performance. Careful consideration was given to maximum performance in a compact enough package to be a direct replacement for the factory wastegate actuator. A simple and elegant design with function as the driving force.

Years of research, development and testing in motorsports has yielded a knowledge base that translates into excellent function and engineering of our wastegate actuator. Our wastegate actuator requires no additional springs or adjustments to the wastegate due to our unique design.
Materials: Any design is only as good as the materials it is made out of. Our wastegate actuator body is made of precision machined and anodized 6061 aluminum. The diaphragm is made of silicone with Nomex reinforcement to withstand high temperatures and last in extreme conditions. Features stainless steel rod and connecting hardware at the wastegate valve. The unique, locking collar design allows for optional spring changes in custom applications (springs range from 3psi to 26psi). Our unit ships set at 7psi-the same as factory.
Manufacturing: The ELEVATE Wastegate Actuator is manufactured of aluminum using state-of-the-art techniques on the latest equipment. Tight, precision machining processes create the tolerances required for top performance.
The ELEVATE Wastegate Actuator is a direct replacement for the factory wastegate actuator. Installation can be performed with the turbo on the car. Installation instructions are included along with mounting hardware and black silicone vacuum hose to replace the factory rubber hose between the Turbo Control Valve (TCV) and ELEVATE Wastegate Actuator.
